healthy Gut, Healthy You!

Dr Rebel is a follower (most of the time!) of a low carbohydrate high fat (LCHF) diet or keto

Top tip I have gleaned:  starch is glucose molecules holding hands Rice, potatoes, pasta & bread are all 'Soon to be sugar' https://twitter.com/lowcarbgp/status/1188828568626839552?lang=de  courtesy of Dr David Unwin @lowcarbGP

The part of LCHF I like is that it helps me with appetite and my tendency to overeat. I am interested in the way these all too easily accessible sugars in our modern world make us feel and our brains react and then we sometimes we feel we cant stop eating it.

I have found these visual guides to food groups very useful:

https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/vegetables   https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/fruits   https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/snacks https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/drinks

Please if you are on diabetes medication seek medical advice prior to embarking on strict low carb diets, but certainly this could really help your diabetes.

Still as with any lifestyle change there is no quick fix and please also focus on general wellbeing not just what the scales say (Non scale victories NSVs!): better sleep, better energy levels, walking up the stairs a bit quicker!

Mindfulness & Wellbeing:

Through his time here, Dr Hameed has developed a very useful mindfulness leaflet. It contains useful information on how to appreciate your wellbeing, and really concentrate on it. It contains some mindfulness techniques that can be practiced at home, on the tube, at work - and all it takes is one minute of your time, each day. Give them a go!
